Ascent to the highest Altai peak - Belukha (4506 m)
Day 1 - Monday
Meet and greet at the airport. Drive to the Altai (550 km). Accommodation in a small hotel. Russian banya (sauna) in the evening.
Day 2 - Tuesday
Meeting the guides and the whole team. Preparing and checking the equipment. A possibility to go on a small rafting trip.
Day 3 - Wednesday
Drive to Gorno-Altaisk - administrative center of the Altai Republic. Registration of visas on the territory of the republic. Then going to Tungur along beautiful mountain road across three passes.
Day 4-5 - Thursday-Friday
Going up mountain paths with the caravan of horses to the lake Ak-Kemskoe.
Day 6 - Saturday
Continuation of the ascent from a stunning Altai lake up to the place called "Tomskie nochevki" ("Tomsk overnights"). Grandiose walls of Belukha in front of us. No horses anymore, only people continue the ascent.
Day 7 - Sunday
This day we'll spend at "Tomskie nochevki" - training on ice and snow that will be helpful later. The altitude on the spot is 3000 m above sea level. Overnight in huts.
Day 8 - Monday
Walk to the saddle Bereljskoe (approximately 3500 m high).
Day 9 - Tuesday
Day 10 - Wednesday
Reserve day in case of bad weather conditions.
Day 11 - Thursday
Descent to the lake Ak-Kemskoe. Mountain banya.
Day 12-13 - Friday-Saturday
Two-days descent to the village Tungur.
Day 14 - Sunday
Drive back to Kamlak. Russian banya in the evening.
Day 15 - Monday
Drive from Kamlak to Novosibirsk. Buying souvenirs and visit to the museum in Gorno-Altaisk on the way.
Day 16 - Tuesday
Novosibirsk sightseeing. Flight home.
We organise this tour every year. Long-term observations revealed that during that period of time, the weather in this region is the most stable. The likelihood of the landslides and avalanches is minimal. Although, the dates may be discussed, if there are more than one of you to come.
Participants have to have good winter alpine equipment and clothing. Temperature may change from +25oC to -20oC at night at the altitude of 3500m above sea level. The most important are the good boots and crampons, good sleeping bag (-20oC)
